The Final Pour – Ep. 1: Blueberry Barn Phantom Gose (Triton Brewing Co.)

📍 Lawrence, IN | 🍺 Gose | 🧊 4% ABV | 🔹 10 IBU

🍻 Intro: A Farewell in a Can

Welcome to The Final Pour, a limited series preserving the final beers from the now-closed Triton Brewing Co. in Lawrence, Indiana. In this premiere episode, we begin with something fruity, tart, and quietly complex: the Blueberry – Barn Phantom Gose.

At just 4% ABV and 10 IBU, it’s a sessionable, flavor-packed Gose that feels like a gentle introduction to a style with ancient roots. With Triton’s doors closed, this beer now represents more than just a taste — it’s a time capsule from a brewery that helped shape Indy’s craft scene

🖌️ Can Design

Blueberry – Barn Phantom Gose

The Blueberry Gose features Triton’s signature two-tone can design — here, a cream top fades into a purple-blue bottom, textured with wave-like graphics that mirror the brand’s nautical theme. Minimalist, bold, and easily recognizable, it’s a design that quietly communicates what you’re in for: something refreshing, a little offbeat, and locally rooted.

🍺 What Is a Gose?

Originating over 1,000 years ago in Germany, the Gose (pronounced “goes-uh”) is a wheat beer brewed with salt and coriander. Unlike bold sours that pucker your mouth, Goses are mildly tart, lightly salty, and often finished with fruit to enhance their refreshing character. They’re funky in origin, but not overwhelming — a perfect crossover for sour-curious drinkers.

👀 Appearance

This beer pours like ruby grapefruit juice with a subtle bluish hue — opaque, rich, and cloudy like a fruit purée. It starts with a tight, foamy head of reddish-white bubbles that quickly fades, leaving behind a quiet, still surface. Visually, it’s inviting and full of character.

👃 Aroma

You get a whisper of blueberry on the nose — not syrupy or sweet, but dry and real. There’s also a soft wheat presence and a slight citrus tang underneath. Compared to funkier sours, this gose’s aroma is balanced and subtle, more of a nod to the fruit than a shout.

👅 Taste & Mouthfeel

The flavor follows through on the aroma: light tartness, restrained fruit, and just a touch of sweetness. The blueberry doesn’t dominate — instead, it plays softly alongside a wheat base and a salty finish. The mouthfeel is light-to-medium, crisp, and smooth, with just enough carbonation to keep things lively.

🧠 Final Thoughts

This is a beer that rewards patience. It’s not flashy, but it’s beautifully drinkable — a perfect example of what a fruited gose can be when done with restraint. As one of the last survivors from Triton’s lineup, it feels both refreshing and nostalgic.
